Baptized 1 July 1615 in Watton at Stone, Hertfordshire, England, Samuel Hale was at Wethersfield in the Colony of Conn. in 1637. He was granted sixty acres of land for serving in the Pequot War.

In 1639, he was in Hartford where he owned a lot on the east side of the river. He removed to Wethersfield in 1642 where he married Mary Smith, daughter of my ancestor, REV. HENRY SMITH. He was a selectman in Wethersfield in 1647.

In 1654 he was one of the first settlers of Norwalk and was deputy to the Gen. Court in Hartford from 1656 to 1659. He returned to Wethersfield and took up residence at Governor Welles estate on the east side of the Great River. This part of Wethersfield was part of Glastonbury in 1690.

His will was dated December 26, 1692 and proved December 6, 1693. His inventory amounted to about 100 pounds. Last Changed: January 13, 2022 Cherie Ailene Morgan
