Life Sketch

All of the following information can be found on pages 771 and 772 of the "Geneological and Family History of New York".

John was the 4th and last child born to Samuel and Frances (Woodall) Kent.

John's first marriage was to Abigail Dudley on May 9, 1686. They had the following 9 children: Mary born January 25,1687; John born January 26,1688; Abigail born September 28, 1690; Deborah born August 22, 1693; Dudley born October 23, 1695; Mary born October 28, 1697; Samuel born December 14, 1698; Abner born June 7, 1701; and Elisha born July 9, 1704.

John married again after the death of his first wife. Abigail (Dudley) Kent died October 26, 1708. I found this death date in Volume III of "Lineages of Members of the National Society of Sons & Daughters of the Pilgrims." You will find records for John & Abigail at #8 on the list you see on the right of this page."
HOWEVER: Suffield Historical Society gives Abigail's Death year as 1704.

John then married Abigail Winchell. This marriage took place on May 19, 1709, and she survived him for many years. To this 2nd marriage was born 3 children: Joseph born February 26, 1710; Noah born April 28, 1714; and a daughter named Experience born March 4, 1717.

John's death is recorded on the same list pictured on the right of this page. He died on April 11, 1721 in Suffield, Hartford, Connecticutt.

NOTE: In 1721 when John Kent died, Suffield was part of Massachusetts. Suffield was annexed into Connecticut in 1749. I put Suffield Conn. as John's death place , because that is where Suffield is now.
