"Last LUBBEN First MARTIN Date FEB20 Year 1908 Place GEORGE ST IA REMARKS BORN EMDEN,OST"

The date Feb 20 is the date of the paper, not the date of death. - D.A. Navorska - xxx May MMXXII - in proximo Grove, OK.

It is my hypothesis Martin's middle name is Hinrichs. His daughter, Teelke, uses it. It may be a vestage of the patronomical naming system that was preserved by using the father's Christian name as a middle name. The character after the name Martin on the gravestone might be a middle initial H. For research, I would look in the OSB's for Emden to find a Hinrich with a son named Martin. - D.A.
