"John "JR" Kennigieter, 70, of Little Rock died of cancer Friday, March 21, 2003, at his home

Services were March 24, at Zion Presbyterian Church, rural George, with interment in the church cemetery

Mr Kannegieter was born Nov 26, 1932 the son of John an Guepke (Kannegieter) Marks After his mother died when he was seven months old, he was adopted by John and Sylvia (Miers) Kannegieter He grew up in the George area and graduated from Ashton High School He served four years in the navy

On May 31, 1952, he married Marjorie Lou Wynia They farmed near George 20 years He also worked for Gene Peters Little Rock Locker and as street commissioner for the city of Little Rock. They moved to Little Rock in 1975 when they purchased JR's cafe After"

"selling the cafe in 1982, he worked at Cobblestone Restaurant in Sibley and Joe's Ready Mix in Little Rock.

He was a member Buss-Johnson Post #316 American Legion of Little Rock and served various offices at Zoar Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bruce of George, James of Little Rock and Steven of Sibley; four daughters, Mrs. Dale (Pamela) Nerby of Siren, Wis., Mrs Leland (Norine) Kruse of George, Mrs. Dan (Debora) Kruse of Rock Rapids and Mrs Mike (Rebecca) Bergquist of Webster, S.D.; 12 grandchildren and two sisters, Marie Pomerenke of Sheldon and Collen Redlinger of Lake Benton, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, on brother, Peter Marks, and one daughter, Denice"
