Rock Valley, IA: Nella Terpstra, 87, of Rock Valley, died Monday, September 29, 2014 at Hudson Care and Rehab Center, Hudson, SD. A funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, October 3, 2014 at First Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Matthew Haan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 5:30-7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. Condolences for the family may be left online at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Nella was born May 18, 1927 at Zeeland, Michigan, daughter of Gerrit and Herrietta (Hazekamp) Hunderman. Nella married Agner Terpstra on November 30, 1948 at Drenthe, Michigan. They lived at Rock Valley where Nella helped at Terpstra's Coast to Coast Hardware Store until retiring after 37 years at the store. Together, Nella and Agner loved to travel. Nella saw the beauty in everything especially flowers and birds. Nella was active in church, participating in Ruth Circle and Christian women's club. She also enjoyed playing cards with her friends and spending time with her family. She will always be remembered for sending a card for every occasion.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Judy (Rodney) Bos of Amarillo, Texas, and Norma (Joel) Kannegieter of Mitchell, South Dakota; 7 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Helen Vander Weide of Drenthe, MI.

Nella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Agner; son-in-law, Verlyn Groen; and brother, Richard Hunderman.
