'John and Dorothy Rehder Family

'John Rehder was born July 6, 1914 on a farm near Hartford to Fred and Mary Rehder. He attended rural school and helped his parents with their farming operations. He married Dorothy Groen on Feb. 22, 1946. They lived on a farm nearHartford four years; in 1949 they moved to a farm in the Beresford area.

Dorothy was born on July 23, 1918, on a farm in Delaware Township, to Heiko and Etta Groen. She attended Pleasant View School, served on the District #85 school board and is active in the ALCW and circle. She is also a member of thePioneer Ladies Aid.

John and Dorothy farmed for 31 years until their retirement in 1977.

Two children were born to them: Roger, born in 1948, farms; and Darlene (Mrs. Robert Runyan), born in 1952, is a graduate of SDSU and teaches at the School for the Deaf at Sioux Falls.

John passed away on Jan. 6, 1983, at the age of 68 years.'
