Bernard A. Cobie April 27, 1929 - July 23, 2007

ACKLEY - Bernard A. Cobie, 78, of Ackley, died Monday, July 23, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo of pneumonia. Funderal services were held Thursday, July 26, at the East Friesland Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Oakwood Cemetery. Full Military Rites provided by the Elliot-Keninger American Legion Post No. 252 of Ackley.

Bernard Arthur Cobie was born on April 27, 1929, the son of Richard and Grace (Heitland) Cobie of rural Ackley. He graduated from the Ackley High School in 1947. Bernie married Mary Ann Winters on March 9, 1956, at the EUB in Ackley. Bernie farmed southeast of Ackley his entire life with the exception of four years that he servid in the U.S. Navy. Bernie was a member of the Elliott-Keninger American Legion Post No. 252 of Ackley for 51 years; a lifelong member of the East Friesland Church where he held many offices; and the Ackley Country Club.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; on son Rick (Darla) of Ackley; one daughter, Paula (Mike) Abbas of Ackley; and five grandchildren, Ryan Abbas, Joshua Cobie, Lindsey Abbas, Alyssa Cobie and Jordan Cobie.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister in infancy, Maxine.

Sietsema Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements."
