Henry Kenneth is a son of Frank Helmholdt and Catherine (Kate) Wierenga.

In 1930 Henry K (7 y), his father Frank Helmholdt (35 y) mother Katie (33 y), his siblings Lybia (12 y) and Garald (9 y) lived in Leighton, Allegan County, in the western part of Michigan. Henry lived in 1935 at the age of 12 years in Wayland, Allegan County.

In 1940 the 17 years aged farm laborer Henry Helmholt lived as a roomer with the family of farmer Joe Dickema in Wyoming Township, Kent County, Michigan.

Henry was in the military during WWII; he was enlisted on 19 January 1943 at the age of 20 years in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and discharged on 10 November 1945 at the age of 21 years.

Henry married on 25 January 1946 in Martin Township at the age of 23 years to the three years younger Jennie Leep.
They lived in Jenison, Ottawa County, in the western part of Michigan from at least the late sixties on.

Henry died in 1995 in Walker, Kent County, Michigan at the age of 73 years.
His widow Jennie was in June 2013 still alive.
