"Ben Goldhorn -- was born in Germany, immigrated to the United States, and was married in Parkersburg in 1886 to Margaret Harms, oldest daughter of Wesley Harms. In 1888 they came to Lyon County. After four years they moved to the farm southwest of George where Carl Fiihr now lives.

Siebrands); Wesley (married Fannie Pals); Margaret (Mrs. Henry Willemssen); Christine (Mrs. Henry Bruns); Anna (Mrs. Earl LeWark); Harm (married Minnie Jansen); Eilert (married Anna Jansen); and Marha and Maria (twins, died in infancy). Rev. Alvin (married to Vera Willemssen) was a nephew, the son of Ben's brother Eilert, who lived with the Ben Goldhorns from the time he was an infant because his mother died.

Mr. Goldhorn was a charter member and one of the signers of the articles of incorporation of the Farmers Elevator Co. here in 1906. Both Mr. and Mrs. Goldhorn were charter members of the Hope Reformed Church. Mr. Goldhorn served as Elder of the Church for thirty-six years and he taught Sunday School until he was in his eighties. Mr. and Mrs. Goldhorn lived to celebrate their seventieth wedding anniversary. He died at the age of ninety-four on their seventy-first anniversary. His wife died at ninety-five."
