"Funeral Rites At Frankfort Tuesday For George Slifer

Funeral services for George Lawrence Slifer, 62, who died April 5, 1964 at his home in Frankfort were held at Padden funeral chapel Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Long officiating. Interment was in Antioch cemetery.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Slifer, he was born April 23, 1901 near Irving, At an early age he accompanied his parents to Haskell county where they located, later moving to Norwick where he met and married Gladys Mae Thomas, June 3, 1925.

They lived near Ulysses where he engaged in wheat farming until 1937 when they moved to Bigelow where he farmed and was engaged in carpentry and construction work.

He is survived by his widow, Gladys, and two sons, Harold and Verlin Slifer of the home; Kenneth and Don Slifer, Frankfort, and Virgil Slifer, Los Angeles, Calif., also a daughter, Joy, Manhattan; his mother, Mrs. Lillie C. Slifer, Frankfort; eight grandchildren, and one brother, Chas. Slifer, Frankfort, and three sisters, Arlene Herald, Tulsa, Okla. Mrs. Hazel White, Medora, and Mrs. Lorena Russell, Lansing."
