Albert married Hilke Aalke Schoffelman on Oct. 18, 1904. 13 children were born to this union; Harm A., Alice, Susanna, Jennifer, George, Hillerick, Sander, Albert Jr., Minnie, Anna, Fannie, John Aaron and Henrietta.

Albert drowned in a boating accident with his son, Sander in Lake Madison, SD. Albert attained the age of 75 years, 9 months and 16 days.
