Carrie Westling was born June 28, 1918 in Union County, SD to parents Henry and Kate (Hulls) Meinjohans. She passed away on December 10, 2012 at Morningside Care Center in Alcester, SD at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 12 days.

Carrie married Harold Westling on June 29, 1928. The couple welcomed two children into the world, their daughter Sharon and son Bruce. She worked at H & N Grocery, Gustafson and Anderson Garage, and several local cafes. Carrie was well known in Alcester for her pie baking. She and Harold enjoyed spending winters as snow birds in Wesleco, TX, where they met and enjoyed many friends. Carrie's greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and supplying them with cookies.

She is survived by two children: her daughter Sharon Evans and husband Evan of Sioux Falls and her son Bruce "Doc" Westling and his wife Ruth of Alcester; 4 grandchildren, Brad (Kim) Moffett, Owatona, MN, Charlie (Mary) Moffett, Sioux Falls, Tena (Brian) Heikes, Beresford, and Molly Westling, Jamestown, ND; 5 great grandchildren, Ian, Emilee, Taylor, Liz and Matthew Moffett; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold, her parents, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Alcester. Visitation with family present will be Wednesday from 6PM to 8PM at Wass Funeral Home in Alcester.
