Ellen DONNELLY Obituary
DONNELLY Ellen Elaine Ellen Elaine Donnelly, age 89, of Maumee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March, 17th, 2011, at the Goerlich Center with her family at her bedside. Born to Arthur and Eva (Mansfield) Wilson, on January 6, 1922, in Toledo, Ellen was one of four daughters. After graduating from Burnham High School, she studied at The Toledo Hospital receiving her certification to practice as a Registered Nurse. Ellen was a member of the Christian Science Church and the Maumee Quilt Foundry. After retiring, Ellen volunteered at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, enthusiastically participating in their Quilting Program. She was most proud of the 9/11 quilt which was dedicated in New York City. Ellen will be remembered for her straightforward and feisty personality. She is survived by her daughters, Gretchen (Michael) Brown, of Redland, CA, Melissa (James) Portentoso, of Swanton, and Wendy Johnson, of Elmore; grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Christopher Kutchenriter, Kevin (Kim) Andrakowicz, Heather (Nick) Brown, Jason (Janey) and Jamie (Doni) Portentoso, Justin Rozek, and Meghan Johnson; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Patricia (Frank) Mensing, of Oak Harbor; sister-in-law, Dorothy Cawthorn and son-in-law, Larry Hoard. Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Albert Donnelly; daughter, Pamela Hoard; sisters and their husbands, Bernadine (Archie) Dunn and Norma (Robert) Donnelly. Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, on Sunday, March 20, 2011 from 2-8 p.m., where the funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. Interment will be at a later date at Toledo Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the Alzheimer's Association and all the staff at the Goerlich Center for their care and compassion. Those wishing to give donations are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or the Alzheimer's Association. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.reebfuneralhome.com
