Note: Helen (Green) Nord Riches, age 105, died on December 15, 20 10 in the Fulton Manor Nursing Home. Helen was born on Janu ary 18, 1905 at her family home in Lyons, OH, daughter of l ate Altory and the late Ethel (Raker) Green. Helen had four brothers and two sisters, all of whom preceded her in dea th. Helen graduated from Lyons High School in 1923 and wen t to work. She and friends worked in Indianapolis for a tim e, and then in Chicago. In was in Chicago that Helen metthe late Elmer Nord and married him in 1929. Helen and Elmer had one child, daughter Patricia Lee, who was born in 1940 and died in 2010. Elmer was a safety engineer working for a large construction company, and he and Helen lived in many locations for the first 18 years of their married life . After daughter Pat spent the first grade in Panama, in 19 47 Helen decided that she had had enough of the traveling life, and returned to Ohio to live with her parents, so tha tPat could have a proper education. Elmer and Helen continued a long distance relationship and together they buil t a home on County Road N, across from Helen's parent's home. Helen and Elmer divorced in the late 50's. Helen later marriedBertram Riches of Wauseon in 1967 who predeceased her in 1992.

Helen worked for many years in the offices of the McCord Corporation in Wauseon, retiring in 1970. She was a member o f the Christ United Methodist Church of Wauseon for many ye ars.

Helen was a wonderful, friendly, outgoing person who was lo ved by her family and by the many others with whom she ha d contact. She had a wonderful, long life, during which sh e saw incredible changes in the world she lived in.

Helen is survived by her son-in-law Philip Roos of Hilton H ead, SC, her grandaughter Kirsten J. Roos of Ashton, MD, an d two great grandsons, Heath A. Dennison of Lewis Center, O H and Chase P. Dennison of Ashton, MD; by her threestepchi ldren, Bertram Riches Jr. of Swanton, Norma Elton of Swanto n, and Lee Riches of Wauseon, and their children, grandchil dren and great grandchildren. She is also survived by a num ber of nephews and nieces of the Green family, andtheir ch ildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home on Satur day December 18, 2010 from 11:00am until 3:00pm. A gravesid e funeral service will follow at the Winameg Cemetery. Onli ne condolences may be made to the family atwww.GrisierFH.com.
