Note: BIOGRAPHY: From Wed., April 9, 1913, Coshocton Daily Times, front page, No. 89: FIRE DESTROYS JENNINGS HOME INVALID WOMAN'S CONDITION MADE WORSE-CARRIED TO DAUGHTER'S HOME AND DOCTOR SUMMONBED-OLD LANDMARK WIPED OUT The home of Mr. and Mrs. David Jennings, within a short distance from the Warwick mines, five miles southeast of Coshocton, was destroyed by fire Wednesday morning. The loss is estimated at $1500. There was $800 insurance on the house andcontents. Mrs. Jennings, who has been seriously ill with goitre, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Orrin Jennings, were in the house alone when the flames broke out. Mrs. David Jennings was carried to an old wash house used by the miners abovethe home and was taken later to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Johnson, just below the road. Dr. L.C. McCurdy, of Coshocton, was summoned to attend her as it was feared the excitement and moving around might result very seriouslyfor her. The fire broke out soon after the family had finished breakfast. Mr. Jennings had gone over to the home of his son, Sam. When he saw the smoke he thought his sister had started to making soap. His sister happened to notice thesmoke coming from the big chimney, which passed up between the two halves of the house, the interior of which was constructed of logs and weatherboarded on the outside. Mrs. Orrin Jennings sent word to the mine and the motorman got theminers out to try to help check the flames but it was too late to do much good with buckets of water. Part of the carpets, bedclothing and a few articles of furniture were carried out but nearly everything was lost. The big house has beena landmark for many years David Jennings has been crippled for many years, as the result of burns received when the buggy in which he and another man were riding from Coshocton caught fire and enveloped him in flames.

BIOGRAPHY: David was living with son Sam and family at the time of his death. He had been there at least three years, probably longer. According to granddaughter Irene, he went to bed well and Laura, his daughter-in-law, found him dead inthe morning.
