Ethel L. Evans-Peterson, beloved mother and long time teacher, died March 22, 2005 at the age of 91 in Reno. Ethel began her teaching career in Ohio in a one-room schoolhouse teaching grades one through eight. She later moved to Culver City, Calif. and taught severely handicapped students for 30 years. Ethel married Reese Evans and was happily married for 54 years when he died.

She was an avid traveler, riding a camel on the Gobi Desert, walking the Great Wall of China, visiting places through out the world, such as Bora Bora, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and Russia. Ethel was also an avid fisherwoman, who loved to catch the "big one." At the age of 78, she met and married Glen Peterson. As a couple they continued to travel and visit even more countries. Glen passed away after 11 years of marriage. She is survived by her son Ron Evans and wife Barbara of Fallon, daughter Bonnie Warwick of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, daughter Connie Huning, and her two grandchildren, Cindy and Karena Evans, of Vacaville, Calif., and son by acclamationRuben Hernandez and wife Laura and grandchildren Jose Maria and Carlos Hernandez. She will be remembered for all those loving years of giving to others and for that twinkle in her eye. A celebration of her life will be at the Seasons Assisted Living Facility in Reno on April 16 at 3 p.m.
