Roger E. Field, 82, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at his home.

Roger was born on March 29, 1927, in Forest City, Iowa. He attended Waldorf College in Forest City after graduating from Thompson High School. Roger enlisted in the US Army in 1945. He was a staff sergeant and in the American Grave Registration for the Western Troops. Roger was a member of the Urbandale American Legion.

He married Arlene Albers on August 23, 1950 in Buffalo Center, IA. They lived in Forest City and owned Fields Electric before moving to Ankeny in 1961. He worked for Allied Construction for over 32 years from 1961 to 1993. He was an electrical estimator, specializing in ceiling design. Roger belonged to the Construction Products Manufactures Council (CPMC), winning many local and national honors; Construction Services Inc. (CSI); and the Sons of Norway. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage and enjoyed sharing these traditions with others. Roger was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, as an elder and usher, and served on the Property Committee and Church Council.

He will be missed by his wife of 58 years, Arlene; daughter, Cynthia (Dave) LeMieux of Gurnee, IL; son, Gregory Field, of Davie, FL; granddaughter, Rebecca Field, of San Jose, CA; three step-grandchildren; four step- great- grandchildren; and brothers, Jim Field of El Paso, TX and John (Mary) Field of Asheville, NC.
