"Harry and Flora were acquainted in Germany. Harry was from Leezdorf and Flora from the neighboring village of Osteel, Ostfriesland, Germany. Harry (son of Nicolas (Claus) and Johanna Endelman) had three brothers and one sister (Henry,Hye, John = father of Enno Endelman of Clarksville, and Gertrude). Harry and his brother Henry were the only ones to immigrate to eh U.S. Henry was here for a while but later returned to Germany. Harry came to the U.S. at about the age of19 and later married Flora on May 1, 1886 at Butler Center. Tehy first farmed on the place on half mile north of the Oltman Lime Quarry. In 1918, they bought a farm in Jefferson Township, section 7, southeast quarter. Their son Fred tookover the farm when Harry and Flora retired in 1929 and moved to Allison. today the farm is owned by their grandson, Frederick Endelman and his wife, Robi. Harry and Flora also purchased a farm in Ripley Township, section 2, southeastquarter. Their son, John, and family lived there. Today the place is owned by Chris and Barbary Eilers.
