Note: He was raised on a farm near Ashton, Sibley and south of George. He attended George High School and graduated in 1959. After marriage, they lived in the George area from 1960 to 1985. They farmed from 1971 to 1985 and then moved tothe Rock Rapids area. During his life, he worked at Sudenga Industries, Kruse Manufacturing and Northwest Manufacturing. He was a member of Hope Reformed Church and Farm Bureau. For more than 15 years, he was a leader in Liberal Wheelers4-H
