Buffalo Center: Walter Tapper, 81, a retired area farmer, died Saturday, August 30 at a Buffalo Center nursing home.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 at Ramsey Reformed Church with Larry TenHaken officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Winter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers were Wilbert Meinders, Jim Meinders, Roy Hinz, John Ubben, Harold Risius and Clarence Penning.

Walter Tapper was born on March 21, 1905, in Kamrar to Joe and Harmka (Stappelmoor) Tapper. On December 31, 1935, he married Bessie Abbas at the Ramsey Reformed Church. Walter and Bessie farmed in the area until retiring and moving toBuffalo Center.

Walter was an active member of his church all his life.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donald (Darlene) Geiken, Buffalo Center and Mrs. John (Arddis) Lande, Algona; three sons Kenneth, Minneapolis, MN; Larry, North Mankato, MN and Bruce, Buffalo Center. Also surviving are threebrothers, John, Manchester; Herman, Forest City; and Donald, Buffalo Center; seven sisters, Hilda Meyer, Algona; Lydia Rippentrop, Armstrong; Mrs Norris (Mary) Rouseau, Fairmont MN; Mrs. Harm (Esther) Huisinga, Titonka; Mrs. James (MinnieMcQuiston, Henrietta Reed & Mrs. Ray (Lillie) Greene, all of Cedar Rapids; 20 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and one brother. ..."
