"Jean Ann Thompson, 79

Jean Ann Thompson, 79, of Clear Lake, IA, died Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Mason City. A Memorial Service was held Thursday, April 22, at Community Chapel, Lakota, with Pastor Ron Wheeler officiating. Accordingto her wishes, her body has been cremated. Memorials may be given to the Jean A. Thompson Memorial Fund.

Jean was born April 23, 1930, in Eldora, IA, the daughter of Carroll and Rachael (Van Nice) Drake. She graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1947. She attended Iowa State University. Jean married Wright Thompson, January 15, 1949 at theLittle Brown Church, Nashua, IA. They lived in Radcliffe until moving to Clear Lake in 1964. In 1969, they moved to Lakota where she worked at Farmers Trust Savings Bank for many years until she retired. They moved back to Clear Lake in2009, where she enjoyed spending her summers since her family built their cabin in 1932.

She loved spending time with her family, going boating and fishing, and was an accomplished seamstress. She never missed a chance to spend time with her family.

Jean is survived by her husband Wright Thompson, Clear Lake; three daughters, Sarah Berschman, Buffalo Center; Becky (Al Hayward) Van Slyke, Ventura, IA; and Teresa (Tom) Price, Lakota; five grandchildren, Alyson (Thomas) Finley, DesMoines; Jesse Van Slyke, Clear Lake; Derick (Kim) Price, Stanhope, IA; Lucas (Ileana) Price, Olathe, KS; and Brent Price, Lakota; seven great grandchildren, Phelan & Lochlan Finley, Landon & Olivia Price and Isaiah, Amilicia & TatianaPrice; three brothers, Richard Drake and his wife Phyllis, Radcliffe, IA; Robert Drake, Hubbard, IA; and Charles Drake, Des Moines, as well as many nephews and nieces. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and an infant grandson Jess Price." <>
