Note: Harry Joseph Tweed and Opal Ileen (Hovland) Tweed

Harry Joseph Tweed was born on July 1, 1899 to Maria and Knudt Tweed on their farm near Joice. He was the eldest child and he had two brothers, Martin and Melville (an infant brother died) and four sisters, Hulda, Henrietta, Evelyn and Adene. The family attended the Lutheran church together -- a small country church nearby. When Joseph was a young boy, he had some heart ailment (probably rheumatic fever) and had to spend much of his time inside, so his mother taught him to do fancy work and housework. He played the piano, and also played a baritone horn in the Joice band. His dad always had a hired hand, until the boys got older and they decided they could do much of the work so they all helped in the fields and helped with the chores along with their dad, Knut. Their house burned down just shortly after they had had it remodeled, and most everything was destroyed about the time Joe was nearing adulthood. (Clothes and all). Change Date: 31 JAN 2000
