William H. Smith, 83, widely known Delaware County farmer, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday at his home 4 1/2 miles north of Muncie on Wheeling Pike after an extended illness. He was a life resident of this county.

Surviving are the widow, Rosetta; two sons, Charles and Arthur Smith of Delaware County; and three grandchildren, Robert W. Smith of the US Air Force, Ralph E. Smith and Patricia Smith, at home.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Meeks Mortuary by the Rev. Joseph Rousch. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m. Friday.
