I am unable to locate Barsum. Possibly, Borßum, a suburb, south of Emden is meant. Aleida's sister, Sophia is born at Barsum bei Bremen. Aleida's father, Joan Ernst Welmann, was born ca. 1779 in Bassum. Bassum is near Bremen. Without further documentation, I am substituting Bassum for Barsum. - D.A.
