"Frances E. Alwood Cigar maker RED LION Frances E. (Warner) Alwood 87, of Red Lion, died at 3:10 p.m. Thursday at Blue Ridge Haven-West, Camp Hill, after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of George G. Alwood, who died in 1967.

The Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 220 N. Charles St., Red Lion. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Hanover. Viewing will be noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the church. The Burg Funeral Home Inc., 134 W.Broadway, Red Lion, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Alwood was born July 14, 1906, in Blairsville. She was the daughter of the late Orestus M. and Maggie J. Warner.

She was a cigar maker for 60 years at the J.C. Winters and Clark Jacobs Cigar factories in Red Lion.

She was a life member of Grace Lutheran Church, a member of Lutheran Church Women, Semper Fidelis Sunday school class and a Sunday school teacher and senior choir member for 50 years. She was past president of the Red Lion AmericanLegion Post 543 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Gettysburg League for Women and past president of Red Lion Lodge Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 1592 Ladies Auxiliary.

Mrs. Alwood is survived by a son, Ronald W. Alwood of Red Lion; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Alwood was preceded in death by a son, George D. Alwood. Officiating at the service will be her pastors, the Revs.Joseph R. and Eloise M. Shanley. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 220 N. CharlesSt., Red Lion 17356."
