The census enumerator did not know how to subtract. Julia's dob is given as June 1848, but her age is given as 56. 1900 - 56 = 1844 or June 1900 - June 1848 = 52.

On the 1900 census, Julia & James claim to be married ten years. James previous wife, Rhoda, died 28 May 1990. Barely ten years. Either Rhoda & James were divorced or James married VERY soon after being made a widower!

According to the 1900 census, Julia's parents were born in New York state & she has three children, all still alive.
