A funeral service for Loren Hansen, 85, of Titonka was held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018 at the Ramsey Reformed Church, Titonka. Visitation was held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Titonka.

Loren Hansen, 85 of Titonka died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Titonka Care Center.

Loren Delano Hansen was born in Titonka on Oct. 29, 1932, the youngest child of Ernest and Evelyn (Rike) Hansen. He grew up in Titonka and graduated from Titonka High School in 1950. Following high school he worked at the Titonka Creamery until he was drafted into the service. He was the Staff Sargent in the 1st Armored Division in the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1956.

On April 23, 1957, Loren was united in marriage to Gladys Harms at Ramsey Reformed Church. To this union three children were born.

Loren was the jack of all trades. When he returned from the military he farmed, was the town police officer for 20 years, spent 31 years as a school bus driver, spent 40 years as the township clerk, dug graves and mowed the cemetery.

Loren was an unselfish and dedicated family man. He will be remembered as a kind and very involved Dad and Grandpa. He loved being surrounded by his family and spent many happy years with them in all types of activities from driving the grandkids on the school bus to Sunday afternoon horse rides with the family. He enjoyed fishing, wood carving and loved spending time with his horses. Loren looked forward to his yearly deer hunting trip to Wyoming; a trip he never missed from 1963 - 2005.

He was a member of Ramsey Reformed Church, North Iowa Wood Carvers, and the American Legion for 61 years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gladys; daughter, JoAnn (Al) Burgardt of Britt and their children, Val (Kit) Quayle of Forest City, Lindsey (Jake) Kurtzleben of Britt and Nicole Burgardt of Britt; son-in-law, Wayne "Wes" Householder of Rapid City, SD, and his children, Matthew (Kris) Householder of Jamestown, ND and their children Calvin and Lauren, Clint (Jenn) Householder of Rapid City, SD, and their children Alyssa and Wesley, Sara (Pat) Wolfe of Rapid City, SD, and their children, Evelyn, Miriam and Francine; sister, Arlene Seehawer of Mason City; numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death are his parents; son, Neal Hansen in 1982; daughter, Cheryl Householder in 2015; brother, Merwyn(Ella) Hansen; mother-in-law; father-in-law and brother-in-law, Garfield Seehawer.
