huwelijk: Jan-Frans was tevens weduwnaar van Maria-Euphrasia Smet(+Vrasene).Het echtpaar De Vliegher-Heirbaut liet op 8 januari 1895 een huwelijkscontract opmaken door notaris Bontinck in Nieuwkerken. Het huwelijk droeg niet de goedkeuring van de ouders van de pas 21 jarige Maria-Julia. Was het misschien omdat de bruidegom 12 jaar ouder was en reeds gehuwd was geweest?In ieder geval weigerde vader Vital Heirbaut zijn toestemming te geven bij de akte van eerbied hem betekend door notaris Lesseliers in Beveren d.d. 2 februari 1895. De eerste 6 kinderen werden in Mariakerke geboren, bij het zevende kind woonde het gezin in Belsele, de landelijke gemeente waar vader Jan-Frans De Vliegher burgemeester werd. Er werd een huwelijkscontract opgemaakt bij notaris Maes te Nieuwkerken Waas op 29/12/1886.
Het huwelijk werd afgekondigd aan de hoofdingang van het gemeentehuis op de zondagen 9 en 16 januari 1887 om 11 uur.
De bruidegom heeft aan zijn militieverplichringen voldaan.
