Notes about Cornelius Gee Revolutionary War Jr

Service in the KINGS AMERICAN REGIMENT

This regiment was formed in response to the outbreak of theRevolutionary War, (1775- 1783), which was fought between England andthe American Colonies. The regiment was organized in the beginning ofthe year 1777, mainly by the efforts of Govenor Tryon of New York andby Col. Edmund Fanning, monies were obtained from New York, LongIsland, and Staten Island. This regiment served in the six majorcampaigns across the length of the eastern seaboard. They fought insome of the bloodiest battles of the war, ending their service bybeing placed on the regular British Establishment, an honour bestowedon only but a handful of Loyalist units. In September 1783, whatremained of the "KAR" at Long Island, New York, sailed to Nova Scotia(the portion that would later become New Brunswick) , arriving at theSaint John River.
The regiment disbanded in October 1783. This ended the history of oneof the many gallant regiments in the American Revolution. Corneliusserved with this regiment from August 1777 until the time when it wasdisbanded in October of 1783. Cornelius served honourably, rising tothe rank of Corporal and was among the many men of the regiment whosettled in New Brunswick on a track of land that was reserved for themfrom Pokiok to Eel River in York County.
