3rd Reserve Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers: The 3rd Battalion was a Special Reserve battalion based in Newcastle upon Tyne at the outbreak of war.[h]
In August 1914 it moved to East Boldon (near Sunderland) where it remained throughout the war as part of the Tyne Garrison[6] and provided drafts to the regular (1st and 2nd) battalions.[33]
The battalion was disembodied on 29 July 1919 (personnel transferred to the 1st Battalion on 12 July) but was not formally disbanded until April 1953
