Dobson notes that "the Arnold copy of the Windham Town Records of Births, Deaths and Marriages lists two John Royces born to John and Sarah, one b. 23 Jul 1686 and the other 11 Dec 1699. Because this birth is less than 9 months after the birth of Ebenezer on 31 Mar 1699 and there is no record of a death of the first son John, some researchers speculate that the 11 Dec 1699 date is actually the death date for the first John and there was no second John. Kelley Royse-Keefe, who has seen the original records, says the Arnold copy is a transcription error and the 11 Dec 1699 date is the date of death for John b. 23 Jul 1686." (For my records I have deleted John #2 and used Kelley Royse-Keefe's interpretation. mmastor)
