    LifeSketch: Feb 17 – Oamaru, ship, 1305 tons, Stuart, from Glasgow Nov 30th. Russell, Ritchie and Co, agents.ears old) to Otago, Oamaru to work for an uncle who was a stone mason. While working on the bridge at Oamaru gardens their tent evidently burnt out and they tramped down to Isla Bank to look for seasonal work and shearing. Robert and Rose managed a farm at Drummond (later mcFarlands), establishing an orchard there and then returned to settle at Isla Bank where their ten children were born. There was also a very good orchard suppling fresh fruit and jams for the family. Robert passed away in 1911 and Rose and family ran the dairy farm and piggery. They bred and sold weaner pigs. Rose stayed on until her son Tom married Bessie Barker in 1935.
