Harrison Sr. family was at Oyster Bay as documented on the town records from 1687–1702, when Isaiah Harrison and his 2nd wife Abigail ___? sold Isaiah's Oyster Bay land and removed to Smithtown, Suffolk County. J. Houston Harrison, in his "Settlers by the Long Grey Trail," speculated about Abigail's surname but Smith is not confirmed by any records belonging to the Smiths of Smithtown, including their wills--again only speculation. Isaiah Harrison's first wife Elizabeth Wright (Gideon2, Peter I), died in 1698 as noted on the Oyster Bay Town Records along with the birth dates of Isaiah's first 5 children: Isaiah, Gideon, John, Mary, Elizabeth. been identified from land records and court records in Delaware and Virginia. These of record were Daniel, 1701, Thomas 1704, Jeremiah 1707, Abigail, 1710, Samuel, 1712. J. Houston Harrison missed in his landmark history of the Harrison family that there was at least 1 other son, born before Thomas, named Joseph. This is proven by DNA in connection with historical records in DE, VA & NC. The question of whether Lydia is the same as Elizabeth is a good one. records of Lydia in VA and NC prove her sibling relationship to the 6 named above-- and there is no further record for Elizabeth Harrison, b. 1698, but there is quite a crowded space for having children if one tries to sandwich an additional daughter Lydia in between Daniel 1701, Joseph and Thomas, 1704. Lydia was very much involved in the life of her brother Joseph Harrison in Virginia and later with his son Isaiah, and his son Joseph, in North Carolina as shown by historical records and the 100% of Joseph Harrison (4th generation) who married Ann Bawls with Samuel and Lydia's sons David and Samuel who served as sureties for Joseph Harrison, their cousin, and Lydia's nephew or grandnephew. This Isaiah3, son of Joseph2 (Isaiah I) is proven by court records to be Joseph's son and not Isaiah2 Jr. as many assumed. This correction has now cleared up the problem of Isaiah 3 living to be of a super advanced age. There is no further record for Isaiah Harrison2, Jr. after his birth record. The witness Isaiah Harrison that is sometimes cited in NJ is much more likely that of Isaiah Harrison, Sr. whose DE neighbor married just across the Delaware River which would have been an easy day trip for Isaiah Sr to support his Delaware neighbor. with the Scudder Family Historical & Biographical Journal, volume 4, no. 1., (Spring 2022). Harrisons initiated their purchase of Maiden Plantation in 1720 while still in New York but they finalized the purchase in the Delaware records in 1721 as shown on the records of both colonies. Samuel & Lydia's son David was born by no later than 1725 in order to be no longer a minor in 1747. This is one of the major reasons that the fictional "Samuel--1708, 1709 or 1711--various versions is shown to be a fictional person by Delaware records--could not have been of age to marry by 1721 or even 1725. Based on a wide survey of all pertinent records, there is no reason to believe there were 2 different Samuels in Delaware. A seamless timeline can be created for Samuel Stewart in Delaware from 1704, when mentioned in his father39;s will. Records for Samuel in Delaware and New Jersey show him acting in records as an adult by 1711, purchasing land from 1714 and processioning for others, and through to the late 1730s, just prior to removing to Virginia prior to 1745 with his Harrison brothers-in-law when they are well documented in Virginia. The 1 record that caused George Edson to deduce there was a younger Samuel, son of Dr. John's son David, when read in its entirety and considering the claims of the heir that are contradicted by the records of Delaware and the conflict of interest by the justice of the court and applicable series of records pertaining, shows there is no conflict or reason to invent a Samuel who is documented by no historical record.ords in NY, NJ, DE, VA & NC that is a result of collaborative research by several generations for about 100 years, including additions by professionals with expertise in their respective fields.arents were living in Newtown, Queens county, New York at the time of his birth as shown by many Newtown town records.
