Thus, her first daughter was named Jennet after her mother, the second daughter Isabell after John's mother, then Christopher after John's father. The eldest daughter Jennet died in infancy, but in 1628, Margaret had twins she named Jennet and Agnes, undoubtedly after her mother and her mother's sister. Both infants died. Thomas her second son was named after his uncle Thomas Preston of Nether Newton, and John, the youngest son, was named after his own father. This evidence strongly reinforces the assertion that Margaret was a daughter of Jennet Simpson Newby. ho seems to have been a bachelor, made his will on 28 October 1609, shortly before his death. In his will, he remembered "the wife of Gilbert Newby" with a legacy of 5 shillings and "also "to her daughter Margaret 5s," as well as to others, who appear to have been friends or acquaintances of his. There were also legacies of three pounds each to his sister Mabel Ellis and his brothers Thomas and Richard.
