My Geoge WHITE was born in Sri Lanka 1828 and married Ringaono, daughter of Rangitakina a chief of Ngati Awa. My George ran away to sea rather than be educated in England and I think jumped ship when he arrived in NZ. He had a brother Bennet WHITE, who came out later and also settled in the BOP with a maori wife. JCH
