His aunt was his mother's sister, Beatrix and his uncle, his father's brother, Egidius. Member of The Cape Parliament for Graaff-Reinet 1854-73 After his retirement from parliament he settled in Pretoria, Transvaal where he died in 1882 aged 80, being a bank manager. he had a large family.
