George Howe was born in Columbia, South Carolina on 29 Jan 1848. He married 1 Jan 1874 Annie Wilson, daughter of Prof. Joseph R. Wilson, DD of Columbia and sister of President Woodrow Wilson. They had four children. He graduated from South Carolina University in 1868 and graduated from the Medical Department of SCU in 1870. He then attended Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. He also studied in New York City and practiced in eye, ear, and throat specialties in Columbia, SC. He was a professor in South Carolina College for women, was twice president of the Columbia Medical Society, and was a founder of the Columbia Hospital, where he was a surgeon at the time of his death, 20 Apr 1895..http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Howe-3328#_note-0">[1]
