John Dudley, Esq., of Atherington, Sussex was born about 1430. He married before 1462 Elizabeth Bramshott, daughter and co-heiress of John Bramshott of Bramshott, Sussex, by Katherine Pelham of Laughton, Sussex. They had three sons (Edmund, Esq., John, and Peter, and two daughters, Elizabeth and Anne (wife of Robert Hall). His wife Elizabeth died in 1498. John Dudley, Esq., died 6 February 1500/01. He left a will dated 1 Octrober 1500, proved 26 June 1502 (PCC Moone 19 & 23), requesting burial in the College Church of Arundel, “in my tombe of marbill there, where Elizabeth, late my wife, lyeth buried.”
