Edward Hugh Cafferty, In loving memory of Edward Hugh Cafferty Sr. of Walpole, formerly of Norwood, who died on March 18, 2017 at age 96. Born in the Mount Pleasant section of Providence, Rhode Island on March 3, 1921 to Patrick and Mary McConnell Cafferty. Beloved husband of the late Audrey E. (Roberts) Cafferty, the love of his life, to whom he was married for 69 years. He is survived by his sister Dorothy Cafferty Hill; his three children, Edward Hugh Cafferty Jr., Carol Cafferty Cianfrocca, and Karen Cafferty Hilyard as well as seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Ed served in the United States Navy during WWII on the USS Chiwawa. In 1944 he was selected to attend the Naval Reserve Officers Training at Brown University. While at Brown he majored in Electrical Engineering, played on the Brown Soccer team and joined the fraternity Delta Tau Delta. After being discharged from the Navy he went to work for the New England Telephone Company where he retired in 1982 as the New England Division Manager, Equipment and Installation Department,

Ed loved being surrounded by his family. He enjoyed working on projects around the house and during the summer months spent time with his family at their cottage on Cape Cod. His hobby was genealogy, and he wrote many books on family history.
