William J. McCoy Jr., 80, died May 10, 2008 at the VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach.

He was born in Philadelphia and lived in Vero Beach since 1981, coming from Miami.

Before retirement, he was a water plant operator for the city of Miami and the city of Vero Beach.

He served in the Coast Guard and the Army in World War II and the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Vero Beach, Florida Irish American Society, Notre Dame Club of Vero Beach, Moose Lodge and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, JoAnn McCoy; sons, William J. McCoy III and Martin McCoy; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marguerite Corley, Anne Owens, Mary Chieffalo and Sister Elizabeth McCoy.
