Dr. Vincent M. Murphy Sr. age 90, of Trumbull, passed away June 29, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Dr. Vincent M. Murphy Sr. loved two things: he loved his wife, and his God.

Life began officially on August 24th, 1923 at home in Brooklyn NY, but on June 26th, 1954 he really began to live. Before he met Dorothy A Duffy, he served in World War II and then graduated from Columbia University in 1950 with a degree in Psychology.

He completed graduate studies at Fordham University, earning his PhD in 1963. He established the Guidance Department at Canisius College in Buffalo NY, and was asked to join the faculty of Fairfield University in 1960. Vincent dabbled in politics, serving on the Trumbull Board of Education for over 7 years. Vincent lived his Faith by serving many communities: he was one of the 1st of 4 Eucharistic Ministers at Saint Catherine of Sienna Parish, Pastoral Visitor for two decades, and countless hours to many organizations within the Catholic Church.

He received a Fairfield University Jubilee Medal in 1992 for his service to the University. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Duffy Murphy whom He called his bride and better half.

Four children: Anne Marie Clingenpeel and husband Tom of Midlothian VA and children Daniel and Amy; Vincent Jr. and wife Lisa of St Augustine FL and children Ryan and Kelly; James of New York NY; Joan Bowie of Attleboro MA and children Erin, Neil, Austin and Catherine; his sister Gert of Montauk NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the attention and care of all the doctors, nurses and chaplains in the ICU unit at St Vincent's Medical Center. As well as the support, love and generosity of family and friends.
