Born in Edinburg, Scottland to the late Frank and Mary (O'Hare) Nugent. Served as a US Army Ranger 4th Battalion. Honourably discharged as a T/5 from 1943-1946 during WWII. Recipient of the Combat Infantry Badge, Two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, a Good Conduct Medal, American Champaign Medal along with European-African-Middle East Medal (3 Stars), the Army of Occupation Medal and Somerset County and NJ Distinguished Service Medals.

He also received six Over Seas Service Ribbons within 18 months, Valor Medal, Three Clusters for Rifle, Pistol and Antitank (Marksman), Army Discharge Honorable Sign, Infantry Emblem, 2 Corporal Patches (T/5) and the WWII Victory Medal.

Predeceased by his dear daughter Mary Elizabeth Gregory. Survived by his wife; two children; sixteen grandchildren; and three siblings.
