Buci is in Normandy, and Leland says, "The Gentilmen communely caullid Busseyes cam with the Conqueror owt of Normandie." Robert de Buci held a great barony of the king in Leicester and Northampton in 1086 (Domesday) and left an only daughter, who married Ralph Basset, the great judiciary of England, in the reign of Henry I. There were numerous collateral branches and a member of one of them, William de Bucy, witnessed a charter of Roger de Mowbray in the time of Henry I. The family occurs in Lincoln and Normandy in 1185 and in Norfolk, Suffolk, Sussex, Northampton in the 13th, and in Leicester until the 15th century, as well as in many other parts of England.
