Notes about Eberhard "or Eberhardus. He wrote his own name "Evvrardus"." von Sülichen Graf von Sülichgau, Herzog von Bayern

{geni:about_me} Note from curator: While often listed as the son of Unruoch II of Friuli and Ava de Monza, this is unproven. Please see below. Married to Gisela of Verona. He is NOT the same as Everard di Friuli (who was likely his grandfather). They are often confused.

According to Todd Farmerie, his association with the family of Friuli is likely incorrect and may derive from the confusion of his identity with that of the two-generations-older Eberhard di Friuli, who also married a Gisela. According to medieval historian Todd Farmerie in 2011, "These are two completely different families, in completely different countries and living at different times. The names are just coincidence." However, a number of research sources in German and Dutch, including the Stammtafeln Band II 1984 and the work of historian Eduard Hlawitschka, assign Eberhard as the son of Adelhard von Burc, himself a son of Eberhard margrave ofFriuli and also an Unruochinger. This would make this Eberhard a grandson of the older man of the same name.
