Weis, p. 118: Count of Geneva; married before 1034 (1) Gisele, dead in 1060.
Weis, p. 118
Name Prefix: Count Name Suffix: I, of Geneva
Turton has two different Geralds, one married to Gisele, and the second married (as her 1st husband) to Tutberge of Rheinfelden, daughter of Rudolph (who I have as an ancestor). Turton has Tetberge married 2ndly to Louis of Faucigny. AR has one Gerald m. to Gisele and 2ndly to Thietburga, widow of Louis of Faucigny (note the order of Tetberge/Thietburga's marriages is reversed). AR is considered, in general, to be "newer & more reliable" than Turton, but I am following Turton on this one.
AR has some possible "hickups" with its pedigree at this point: AR describes the first wife as "dead in 1060" and the birth year of Aimon, the son born by the 2nd wife, as "about 1050". I think it is strange (and probably significant) that AR can't find a way to describe the 1st wife's death to be "in sync" with the 2nd wife's child birth. Also AR's death date of "1061-1080" for Gerald is a pretty wide range. One could envision a Gerald I, d. 1061, and a Gerald II, d. 1080, which is what Turton has. In fact I think that Turton is right - at least in there being two Geralds. I will follow AR in other items, including the order of Tetberge/Thietburga's marriages..
Comte de Vienne, Maurienne et Geneve.
It is reported that Gerold was appointed guardian for his grandson Ama deus III.

([1010/20]-after [1061]). "Rodulfus rex et Mathildis soror eius" are named as children of "Mathilde…filia…Gerberga" in the Continuator of Flodoard, which specifies that Mathilde was mother of Berta who was mother of "Geroldus Genevensis"[718]. As Géraud´s son Conon was probably adult when he donated property, recorded in a charter dated to [1061] (see below), it is unlikely that Géraud was born much later than [1020]. Comte de Genève. Géraud Comte de Genève supported the challenge by Eudes II Comte de Blois to the succession of Emperor Konrad I [II] King of Duitsland to the kingdom of Burgundy after the death of King Rudolf III in 1033[719]. Herimannus records that "Reginolf et Gerolt Burgundiones" submitted to Heinrich III King of Duitsland "apud Solodurum" [Solothurn] in 1045[720]. "Cono Geraldi comitis filius" donated property to the abbey of Ainay, with the consent of "Geraldi comitis patris sui", by charter dated to [1061][721]. [m firstly GISELA, daughter of ---. Guichenon names Gisela as the first wife of Géraud Comte de Genève[722]. The primary source which confirms her marriage has not yet been identified.] m [secondly] ([1060/70]) as her second husband, TETBERGA, widow of LOUIS Seigneur de Faucigny, daughter of ---. Her first marriage is proved by the charter dated 4 Sep 1119 by which "Wido…Gebennensis episcopus" donated "ecclesiam de Condominio" for the souls of "…matrie mee Teberge" to Cluny[723]. Her second marriage is confirmed by the undated charter, dated to [1088/99], under which "Aymo comes Gebennensis et filius meus Giroldus" founded the priory of Chamonix, signed by "uterini fratres comitis, Willelmus Fulciniacus et Amedeus…"[724]. Géraud & his [first] wife had [one possible child:

(a) [JEANNE (-[1095]). Guichenon names Jeanne as the wife of Comte Amédée II referring to various secondary sources[725]. Her origin is not known with certainty, but Guichenon, referring to "Henninges" (no precise citation), suggests "avec…assurance et…probabilité" that she was the daughter of Gerold Comte de Genève and his first wife Gisela ---[726]. From his discussion, it does not appear that this speculation is based on any surviving primary source and it is not known how accurate it might be. m ([1065/70]) AMEDEE de Savoie, son of ODDON Comte de Chablais & his wife Adelaida di Susa ([1048/50]-26 Jan 1080, bur Saint-Jean de Maurienne). He succeeded his brother in 1078 as AMEDEE II Comte de Savoie, Marchese di Susa.]

Géraud & his [first/second] wife had one child:

(b) CONON (-before 1080). "Cono Geraldi comitis filius" donated property to the abbey of Ainay, with the consent of "Geraldi comitis patris sui", by charter dated to [1061][727]. The chronology suggests that Conon must have been considerably older than his brother Aimon [I] and therefore was probably born from his father´s [first] marriage.

Géraud & his [second] wife had one child:

(c) AIMON [I] ([1065/80]-12 May [1125/28]). "Patris Geraldi et fratris Cononis, comes Aymo successor" donated property to the church of Leman, at the request of "fratris Burchardi monachi", by undated charter[728]. Comte de Genève.
