Op enig moment had Aukje Faber, gehuwd met Dirk van Sijst inkopengedaan in de winkel van Rommert. Omdat Rommert bij het teruggeven vangeld niet kon wisselen, bleef Aukje hem nog 3½ cent schuldig. Zij zeitoen dat ze nog even spek moest kopen en dat zij dan wel geld zouwisselen en dat zou brengen. Kennelijk duurde dat Rommert te lang,want toen hij Aukje later tegenkwam vroeg hij haar in het openbaar enweinig subtiel (want zo was hij nu eenmaal, het zit nog steeds in defamilie.....) of zij al spek had gekocht. Diezelfde dag kwam Aukje inde winkel en smeet een gulden op de toonbank om daarmee haar schuldvan 3½ cent te voldoen. Rommert gaf haar geld terug, waarna eenwoordenwisseling en een handgemeen ontstonden. Rommert duwde Aukje meteen boodschappenmand van zich af die Aukje hem vervolgens ontfutseldeen tegen een stapel klompen in de winkel smeet. Hierna kwam Rommertkwaad achter zijn toonbank vandaan, greep Aukje bij de arm, zette haarop straat op en sloeg haar enige malen voor het hoofd. Uit de getuigenverklaring van het slachtoffer, Simon Lenger 64 jaarbootwerker in Harlingen wonende: op vrijdagavond 6 December 1912 gingik ±10 uur langs de Noorderhaven in Harlingen, waar ik de beklaagdeontmoette die tot mij zeide: "zoo oude Judas tref ik je hier" waaropik hem vroeg of hij den verkeerden niet voor had. Hij antwoordde:"neen oude Judas" en gaf mij vervolgens opzettelijk met geweld eenslag boven mijn rechter oog, waarop ik achterover op de grond sloeg.Ik ben in de .... geraakt. Tichelaar was zoutweger bij de firmaHarmens en mijn zoon heeft tengevolge zijn afwezig blijven met deandere leden van de ploeg een tijdlang om moeten loopen. Ik heb mijnzoon toen aangeraden om een gulden schadevergoeding te vragen. Zulkshad plaats gevonden op 4 December 1912. Naar ik hoor heeft beklaagde ƒ3,50 schadevergoeding aan den omloopers moeten betalen. Wat de echtereden voor deze kloppartij is geweest kwam niet uit de stukken naarvoren.
