    Op 26 september 1691 koopt Willem Hendriksz Hooghwerff, weduwnaar van Magdaleentje Jacobs van der Laen, zijn kinderenuit. Kennelijk gebeurde dit kort voor zijn huwelijk met Leijngje Welhouck. Zijn kinderen waren; Trijntie circa 21 jaar, Hendrik circa 19 jaar, Jacob circa 17 jaar, Willem circa 14 jaar en Geertruit circa 11 jaar oud. Bastiaen Jacobse vander Laen, oom der kinderen, was voogd van moederszijde over de kinderen. De kinderen werden uitgekocht met ruim 19 gemetland, gelegen onder Hoogvliet, Poortugaal en Langebakkersoord en met de sieraden van hun moeder.

    {Ze moet dus tussen oktober1669 en september 1670 zijn geboren. Gecombineerd met het feit dat oudste dochter Maria (gedoopt te Hoogvliet op 6-9-1668) niet meer in leven in en de tweede dochter blijkbaar niet eveneens Maria genoemd is, vermoed ik dat Maria bij nader inzien gewoon Trijntje is genoemd. Eveneens is mogelijk dat in het doopboek de verkeerde naam is ingeschreven.}

    {Dit zou er weer op duiden dat de naam Maria afkomstig is uit de familie Van der Laan. Echter noch de moeder, noch de grootmoeder van Magdaleentje heet zo.}
