Het huis Loenersloot, gelegen aan de Angstel tussen Nieuwersluis en Baambrugge, wordt tot een van de oudste kastelen van de provincie Utrecht gerekend. De eerste vermelding van de plaatsnaam komt voor in de laat-negende eeuwse goederenlijst van de Utrechtse kerk, waarin sprake is van Lonoralaca, Loenersloot dus. Het eerste lid van het geslacht van die naam komen wij tegen in 1156. Hendrik van Loenersloot treedt dan op als belanghebbende in een oorkonde van keizer Frederik Barbarossa inzake een grensgeschil tussen Egbert van Amstel en het kapittel van S. Marie te Utrecht. Het gaat daarbij om tienden en goederen in een ontginningsgebied in de Vechtstreek
