      Alan III van Bretagne (997-Vimoutiers, 1 oktober 1040) was een zoon van Godfried I van Bretagne en Hedwige van Normandië. Onder het regentschap van zijn moeder, volgde hij in 1008 zijn vader op als hertog van Bretagne. Tot bij het overlijden van zijn moeder regeerde hij samen met zijn broer Odo. Hij lag in oorlog met Fulco III van Anjou en met Robert I van Normandië, maar verzoende zich nadien met Robert de Duivel, die hij de voogdij over zijn bastaardzoon gaf toen hijzelf op pelgrimstocht naar Jeruzalem vertrok. In 1035 richt hij de apanage Penthièvre op voor zijn broer Odo.

      Alan was in 1008 gehuwd met Bertha, dochter van Odo II van Blois, en werd de vader van:
      - Conan II (-1066)
      - Havise, gehuwd met Hoël II.

      Hij werd vergiftigd in 1040, toen hij de hertog van Normandië hielp bij een opstand van zijn edelen.
