Jan Arissen was oorspronkelijk pachter op de boerderij Klein Wolfswinkel in Renswoude. In 1695/1696 kocht hij van de eigenaar, Jan Carel Sonoy baron d'Oppuers de boerderij voor 2200 gulden.Vervolgens werd hij in de plaats van Sonoy leenman van het huis Scherpenzeel.
